Pants, diaper back on?

I have mentioned before that Jocelyn is not a particularly great sleeper. We waited a very long time to sleep-train, and have suffered the consequences of that. Even now, at nearly 2 years old, bed time is an ordeal.

Bedtime ritual is as follows: Bath, milk and cookies, a few stories out in the living room, brush teeth, a few stories with daddy in bedroom, a few songs with mommy in the dark. Then Jocelyn goes in her crib.

Tonight she talked for a full hour. Early on there was some melt-down type screaming, so Mike went in to give her a new diaper (this is a nightly ritual now, which is unfortunate, but it does prevent overnight leaks) and put her back to bed. Then there was lots of chatter. Very cute chatter. We sat here sort of giggling through it. It was adorable! But then she started melting down again. This time she was calling for Mommy, so in I went.

When I walked in, the first thing she said to me was 'Pants back on?' 'Oh, did you take your pants off?' 'Diaper back on?'

Yeah, she took off her pants and her diaper. It was really hard to stifle the laughter. I succeeded, but it was hard. Anyway, I put her diaper and pants back on, we had a cuddle and I sang a song. After one song, her request for 'bed now! Mommy no sing!' came.

She has been quiet ever since. Let's hope it sticks!
