21w3d - The Name Game

Hubby-poo and I started looking at names almost immediately after finding out if we were having a baby. We bought a book of 100,000 names and started diligently going through and eliminating the ones we don't like. Once we found out we were having a girl, we concentrated our focus on girls' names. Out of the hundreds of pages of names, we found about 30 that we like. Good work, we eliminated a lot. But that is still a long list of names.

Hubby-poo had a brilliant idea - we have written all of the names down on pieces of paper and put them into a bag. We draw one every few days and 'test drive' it. It's been fun, and a very useful exercise. First of all, the act of drawing a name can be polarizing. I find myself 'rooting' for certain names. Once came out that I just didn't want to test out. It was a good indication that I don't like it (and we thus eliminated it). There was one name that I thought was pretty low in my personal rankings that I actually wound up liking a whole lot after using it a bunch. There was one that I thought I really liked that I wound up being indifferent to after the test drive.

And, no, I'm not sharing any of the choices. We are keeping them all a secret. We won't settle on one until we meet her, and you will all find out shortly after that.
