Jocelyn is becoming such a big girl. Today, she picked out her outfit. I had her dressed in something else, and she went to her closet and picked out something different to wear. Sure, on one hand, that's a bit bratty. But good for her for expressing her opinions and asking for what she wants.
Actually, Jocelyn has been pointing and gesturing for what she wants for a little bit now. Again, it can get annoying. But at least we know what she wants (most of the time), even if we can't give it to her (no, Jocelyn, the faucet does not come out of the wall).
Jocelyn has a whole bunch of words now. She knows a whole lot when she hears them, but can even say a few. Obviously she knows Mama and Dada (although, she does not say them all that frequently, sadly). But she also knows "ball" (ba), "bear" (bao), "beep" (baah, in a high pitch), "banana" (nana). She no longer says "cat", but she does often 'discipline' Dakota by wagging her finger and saying 'dududu.'
In addition to the above words, she knows a whole bunch of words. The ones we need to be careful with are "outside" and "stroller" because she will want to go outside. Oh, and "bottle" because it will make her want her bottle. The phrase "___ is home" always solicits an excited response.
She is climbing stuff now. Sure, she was climbing the base of her high chair for a while, but she now climbs the bean bag chair in her room. She can also climb up onto the couch if she has something to sit on. And even at Gymboree today she climbed on the big mattress thing.
Jocelyn has become very interested in her toy box, often opening it and pulling everything out and putting things back in. She even put her daddy's huge, ugly fantasy baseball trophy into her toy box. It was really impressive, because she couldn't quite lift it high enough. She figured out that she could bend down and lift it from the bottom, and then she could get it high enough to put into the box. Brilliant!
Speaking of the toy box, she's really into the 'take it out / put it in' game. Sadly she doesn't always put things in where they are supposed to go. So when grandma was packing a suitcase, Jocelyn often took things out of it. And she will open a drawer, take stuff out, and then put it back into another drawer. It's bad when she puts things into the trash, because if we don't catch her we will lose things. It's a good thing we keep the toilets locked, or else we'd surely have cell phones and car keys end up there!
She loves her Winnie the Pooh doll, and also loves watching the movie trailer on-line. She sways to the Keane song that plays. Jocelyn still loves music so much. She has figured out how to turn on her sea horse and will often hold it and sway. Oh, and she has a tow with a key board, drum and microphone which she loves. When you press the buttons sometimes it plays full songs, and she will grab the mic and 'sing' along. It's way too cute!
Jocelyn also still loves to read. It is not uncommon for her to bring you a book, or when you offer to read to her go grab a book and get really excited as she runs over to you. Her favorite is probably still "Good Night Moon" but she also really likes "The Belly Button Book." Lately she is really into pictures, too. She flips through photo albums, mostly featuring pictures of herself, and points to the people. The other day she pointed to a picture of grandma and then pointed up at grandma, so that was cute. And she will often point to me and her dad and say 'mama' and 'dada.' It's cute.
I feel like there are 1000 stories to tell, but I don't get to them fast enough. It's too bad, because she's a funny little girl and it's just too bad that these are becoming lost. Hopefully I will remember to post them as they happen.
