So... Jocelyn is walking. She's been doing a step here, two there, the occasional three for a few weeks now. But yesterday she took some 8 steps from the coffee table to her play pen. These were not stumbly steps, mind you. They were solid, slow, deliberate steps. She stopped when she got over to where I was folding her laundry, reached out and grabbed the laundry basket. Then she very slowly and deliberately sat herself down on the floor.
So, yeah, my 10 month old daughter can walk. Which means that I am in BIG trouble. It's not a skill she has mastered yet, not by a long shot. But she can cover the whole house in the form of crawling and cruising (and gets around FAST at that), so I'm sure that mastery of the ultimate 'big people' way of getting around is just around the corner.
Because of all of this expert cruising (and now beginner walking), we have moved up to Gymboree Level 3. There are far less songs at this level, and far more activity. It's EXHAUSTING! I don't know how she didn't take a huge nap afterwards - I wanted one!
One other cute thing from yesterday - Jocelyn is one of the most sophisticated eaters I know. But only in the context of eating from big people's plates. When it's mush that comes from her bowl, she can take it or leave it. But when it comes from one of our plates, she's at least curious enough to try it.
For lunch yesterday, I had roasted red pepper soup with Gorgonzola in it. Not exactly a mild mix of flavors. Out of curiosity, I let Jocelyn taste some. She *loved* it! I mean LOVED it. I gave her several bites and she lapped them up! I didn't want to give her much, I try to limit her table food (especially when comes from restaurants, since you don't know what they put in there). Then at dinner she ate some guacamole off of my fingers, bits of yellow squash and zucchini from my plate, and chicken from Mike. Yeah, I totally gave birth to a foodie :-P.
