Today has been a major day for my J-bird. She seems to be well on her way to mastering the sitting up from tummy position thing. Sure, some babies do that much earlier, but my doodle bug did NOT like spending time on her tummy, so she never practiced it.
She demonstrated this trick a few nights ago (3/15, maybe?), when she started to cry in her crib. Mike went to grab her to find her sitting up on her butt! This evening she practiced it a whole bunch. And the little stinker was using this maneuver (butt to belly to butt to belly, etc.) to make her way all around the room! So this child is becoming mobile. Which means we are in trouble!
She has been making sort of a clicky, tsk sort of noise. It's cute. And she is so proud of it. She will click, we will click, she will click again. It might be code for 'I want that!' But either way, it's cute.
But the proudest moment in her recent life has been playing Peek-a-Boo! For months it has been one of the big people hiding behind a magazine, blanket, doorway, etc. and jumping out and saying 'boo!' Well, last weekend Jocelyn took a T shirt out of the clean laundry basket and put it over her face. She then revealed her face with a big smile on it. Then she hid again. And revealed again. We figured out she was playing Peek-a-Boo with us! It was so So SO freakin' adorable! We laughed so hard. And we would ask, "Where's Jocelyn?" when the shirt was over her face and then exclaim, "There she is!" when she moved it. And she would laugh and squeal and just have a great time. It was awesome :-).
She is better and better at walking, too. She's still holding on to our hands, of course, but she can get some real speed and distance. And she has some control over the direction that she walks in. Which means that she walks towards the front door.
Oh, did I not tell you that Jocelyn loves the front door? All doors, actually, although the front is her favorite. She will stare at it and whimper until you pick her up and start walking toward it. And when you are getting close, she gets a big goofy grin on her face. She then reaches out and touches it while making a satisfied 'aah' sort of sound. Hysterical! Sometimes she also wants to open the door. She loves outside. But if somebody goes out the front door without her, whoa nelly, she is not happy. Strangely, though, going out the door to the garage is just fine. In fact, if somebody is leaving through the garage, she better be there to say goodbye to them! The door to the backyard is good, she likes it back there, but it is not as interesting as the other doors.
Jocelyn also figured out recently that she can open cabinets. She opens the cabinets in her bathroom. Now, the only things in those cabinets are diapers, wipes and other safe things. But it's really, really cute to watch her with that huge look of wonder on her face. It's SO cute!
Beyond that, I know I need to write a post about her favorite things. But as a teaser, her favorite toy is her Wocket (of Pocket fame), her favorite foods are fruits and teething biscuits (pretty much all of them) and her favorite person is her mommy :-).
