As of last Friday, my baby is 3 months old. Which I guess means she has graduated from newborn and is now an infant. And as such, she is learning a bunch of new tricks and skills.
My baby gets stronger and stronger every day. In addition to nearly-daily tummy time (when we can stand the screaming), we are doing much more back time. We put a blanket on the floor and have her lie flat for a while. This is important, because she does not sleep on a flat surface at night, and rarely sleeps on a flat surface during her naps, so we need her to practice spending time flat on her back. She uses the time to practice several important skills. She scoots around on her back. She spins on her back. And she tries with all of her might to roll over. She also kicks around a whole bunch and does bridge lifts. She can get her little butt pretty high off the floor, which is scary considering we often unstrap her in he car seat when it's locked into the locked stroller and we are sitting in a restaurant.
She also makes more and more sounds every day. She squeals in delight at absolutely nothing. The same baby who couldn't be put down is learning how to entertain herself - and she really enjoys her own company. She can just sit in her chair and coo, gurgle, squeal and laugh! And she really does have the best laugh ever. It's sort of a slightly nasal 'AAH". We have the best time. And when I walk with her and sing, she sings along with me. It's seriously cute. I swear, she's trying to make words. She really is.
And her hand-eye coordination is improving tremendously. She grabs at things now - her elephant rattle, my hands, her blankets, my shirt while she's nursing, etc. Soon she'll start to notice the cats and start to grab at them (at which time we won't see them anymore until she starts kindergarten!). She's super big on sucking things. Everything she grabs winds up in her mouth.
On that topic, she's really big on gnawing stuff. She grabs at my fingers and sticks my knuckles in her mouth. It's super adorable. She is also really big into drooling right now. This, of course, could mean teething. The pediatrician seems to think that she will be an early teether. This is not something I want to deal with yet, but I might not get much of a choice in the matter ;-).
This little baby has me wrapped around her tiny little fingers. She really does. I love my bugaboo!
