24w6d - Is this normal? Warning - this gets a tad personal....

Having not been pregnant before, it is hard to know what is 'normal' and what is bad.

Lately I have had some cramping. It really feels like menstrual cramping, but not as severe. It mostly happens when I am exercising, but sometimes happens when I'm just sitting at my desk working away. But I also have some poopy-tummy, so I figured it was that. And I also don't know what it feels like to have a baby living inside me, so maybe it feels like a combination of menstrual / poopy cramping.

After a few days of this on and off cramping I decided to call my doctor. After some phone tag we finally connected. She thinks it's fine. She says that when it happens when I'm exercising that I should slow down and drink a bunch of water. As long as there is no bleeding or discharge everything is fine.

Am I crazy for calling my doctor for everything I don't understand? Or am I crazy for thinking that's crazy? But I really don't know what things mean, and the books only cover so much.

Anyway, I have been feeling more movement that I'm much more sure is movement (tapping and whatnot). It's still not every day, but it's getting close to every day. So that has to be a good sign. And since my doctor is not concerned about the cramping then I guess I'm not, either.

Yes, that sort of menstrual cramping feeling is normal. Some times you will feel your belly get really tight too... that's also normal (Braxton Hicks contractions). And don't feel weird about calling your doctor - that's what she is there for and she's probably had weirder questions.

I agree 100% w/ Karen.

Also, your ligaments and such are stretching, your whole body is changing, so often discomfort is normal.

And if you don't want to call your dr for the 900th time that week, ask your mama friends. We've all had that "is this normal" thing - and usually it is.

Finally - a person inside you feels weird and will make all other bodily functions feel weird. I felt hyper aware of everything in my body when I was preg, stuff I never paid attention to before. There are times now I swear I feel flutters like those early kicks (and I'm DEFINITELY not preg!!), which means I probably had those feelings before and thought nothing of them.
