Jocelyn just turned 19 months old, and I know I have mentioned this before, but she is totally the funniest person I have ever met. I think she has a refined sense of humor for somebody her age, I really do. Tonight, while she was in bed, Donovan started crying. We thought she was asleep, until we heard "Wah! Wah! Wah!" coming from her room. She was totally mocking her baby brother! It was hilarious!
The number of words that she has started saying over the past few weeks has increased tremendously! When we had her in for her 18 month check-up, we had to wrack our brains to determine if she knew 6 words, and determined that she used about 10 words. She's probably up to 50 now, mostly over the past 2 weeks. Today she said Zebra (and she knows what a zebra is - thanks to the new stuffed animal from her aunt Sarah). When she sees pictures of telephones she says "hello" (more like 'hewwo'). She can say, and identify, "blue" (boo) and "yellow" (yeyyo). She also likes to yell out "die die die," which is hilarious. She can say the names of her two best friends - Elmo and Pooh (Boo, but different than the blue boo). She's also trying really hard to say "lamb" (yam). And, of course, she has started to say "cookie," which is super cute. She can also say "book," which is appropriate because she loves to read.
When she needs a new diaper, she says a new word that she pronounces "Baboo." We don't know if it means diaper or poop - I tend to think it means diaper, since she used that word when she found my bag of very large feminine hygiene products I got from the hospital. But it's super cute, and it's cool that she tells us when she needs a diaper change.
I may have mentioned this previously, but she is getting just so good at putting like things together. In her Sesame Street book, she likes to point out the laundry detergent bottle in the laundromat with Bert and Ernie and the same bottle as trash in Oscar's area. Also, in her first words book, she has a toy train picture on the 'toys' page and an actual train picture on the 'transportation' page, and she flips between the pages and points to them both, to show that they are the same thing. She keeps her like books together as well.
Her attention span is getting longer and longer. We can get through (and she now has a preference for) longer and longer books. Her two favorites these days are "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" and "Green Eggs and Ham." Those are both pretty long, especially the first one. And she can get through the whole Jets book now, which is pretty long.
She's a good girl. And super smart. And, like I said, funny. Sure, she has tantrums on occasion - a fer per day - but she's a toddler, it comes with the territory.
