35w3d - Hold on, Pecan!

I know I don't do much pregnancy blogging. I guess that since I have been through it before, it's sort of been there, done that. Which, of course, is the wrong attitude. We do take belly pictures (not nearly as many as we did with Jocelyn), and I do read the weekly iPhone app. But we don't read about it every night this time.

But things have taken a turn for the interesting. First of all, my allergies seem to be much more sensitive during this pregnancy. Not so much with my seasonal allergies, those actually were not as bad. But I had two ER-visit-worthy allergic reactions. One was when I was about 25 weeks and working in Fayetteville, TN. I probably could have gotten that one under control with a bunch of Benadryl, but I didn't have any on me (last time I make that mistake when traveling for work!). The other was Christmas night, while I was home, and I had access to Benadryl. Once I felt the symptoms start I quickly took two children's Benadryls (equivalent to one adult Benadryl), which did not act very quickly. The reaction seemd to be moving very quickly, so I didn't want to take any chances. There is a good hospital about 4 miles away, so Mike took me there. They injected some more Benadryl right into my blood stream, plus another medicine into my blood stream, and then I had to breathe in other medicines. About 2 hours later I went home, all safe and sound and super sleepy. Mike was sweet enough to let me sleep in the next morning while he cared for Jocelyn (of course, she also took the time to sleep in, which only happens when Mike grabs her).

Other than that, pregnancy is fine I guess. I'm a bit nervous about him coming along too early, though. I am already starting to have Braxton-Hicks contractions. I have also had quite a bit of pelvic floor sensation. My OB visit this morning (which was supposed to be last week, but my doctor couldn't make it due to a family emergency) indicated that I am 1 cm. dilated. Already. With about 5 weeks left. Luckily Pecan is still pretty high up in there, otherwise we might be having a New Year's baby. Actually, we still could, because you never know. But let's hope not! Let's get this boy fully cooked :-).

I have had some GI issues of late, so that kind of sucks. There are usually contractions that come with those, and I don't know the cause / effect order on that. I was up in the middle of the night last night having contractions and also tummy troubles. It was not a good combination :-(. I also had a contraction during yoga today. Oh, and I also get terrible reflux at bedtime. It's not a burny, acidic feeling, so I don't call it acid reflux. But there's bubbling, usually of the sips of water I recently drank, so there you go.

Anyway, we are super excited to meet this little guy. We are still evaluating names, and we are nowhere near ready. We have a bassinet, so he has a place to sleep. But we still don't have newborn size diapers. We have some clothes, and much of it is even washed. Unfortunately, it's sitting on the guest bed and not folded up and put into drawers. Oh well, one thing at a time, I guess. I had planned to do some of that today, but I took a 2.5 hour nap instead. I guess I was tired :-P.
